Chevening Scholarship 2023 in UK/Study in UK is one of the most prestigious scholarship schemes offered by the British government. This scholarship covers full tuition fees and a monthly maintenance allowance for up to 12 months for undergraduate and postgraduate students, respectively.

This scholarship scheme is open to applicants from all over the world who wish to study at an institution within the United Kingdom or Ireland. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents of the United Kingdom or Ireland and be enrolled as full-time students at an approved university or college during their stay at the Chevening Scholarship Programme.

Chevening Scholarships 2023: Chevening is an international scholarship programme that offers bachelors, masters and PhD scholarships to students from all over the world. The Chevening Scholarship Programme was established in 1965 and has been offering scholarships to overseas students since then. The programme has earned a reputation for its high standards of selection, with only 8% of applicants being accepted on average every year.

The Chevening Scholarships Programme is open to any student who is eligible to apply as per the eligibility criteria mentioned below. The application process involves filling up an online application form which requires basic personal details (including passport number) and some academic information about yourself such as previous education, age, nationality, etc. An interview process will be conducted once your application has been selected by an academic committee at Oxford Brookes University or University College London (UCL).

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled full-time at a UK university or college.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of two years left on their course prior to the start date of their Chevening programme.
  • Applicants must have completed an upper second-class honours degree from a UK university, preferably with an MSc or PhD.
  • Applicants are expected to have obtained a good honours degree in any subject area, but candidates with specific expertise in an academic field will be given preference.Applicants must not already hold a scholarship from the British Council or another organization with which the British Council has established an agreement.
  • To be considered for this scholarship, you must satisfy all of the requirements listed above and complete your first year of study with us by January 2023*

Documents required:

  1. A copy of your passport/a valid passport, birth certificate and other relevant documents (for example, an ID card, driving licence, etc.) for each person on the application form.
  2. Proof of English language proficiency (if applicable).
  3. Proof of educational qualifications (if applicable).
  4. A copy of your passport photo and signature taken within the last 12 months by a person authorized to do so by the applicant (i.e., a head teacher or principal).
  5. A letter outlining why you would like to be considered for a Chevening Scholarship at this stage of your studies, including any specific work experience or skills you have developed which could benefit our programme and how they relate to your aspirations in life upon completion of your studies at university level as well as why we should consider you for this award at this point in time (please provide details such as academic achievement and career goals).
  6. Two photocopies of your highest level qualifications (for example, degree certificates or degree transcripts)
  7. Evidence that you can support yourself financially while you are studying (for example, a bank statement showing your current account balance or proof of financial support from your family or friends)

How to apply

Application process:

Step 1: Complete the online application form.

Step 2: Provide your CV and statement of intent.

Step 3: Answer the English language test.

Step 4: Submit two letters of recommendation from an academic or professional supervisor, who should be able to comment on your academic record and potential for success.

Step 5: Submit a personal statement. This can be up to 2,000 words long, including any previous work experience that you may have had. It should focus on why you want to study at this university, why they are special and how they can help you improve your career prospects. It also should include a description of your leadership skills and how they can help you in future careers.

Step 6: In addition to this application form, there are other documents that are required when applying for scholarships such as proof of financial need; a completed A-level certificate or equivalent qualification (if applicable); copies of degree certificates; medical certificates; reference letters from college lecturers (if applicable); and finally proof of accommodation with regards to hostels or housing allowance if applicable
