Top 10 Highest Paying Cities for Engineer NASA Jobs
We have identified eleven cities where NASA’s typical engineer pay is higher than the national average. The top of the list is San Mateo, California, closely followed by Boston, Massachusetts, and Green River, Wyoming, which come in second and third, respectively. San Mateo, CA maintains this trend by exceeding the $114,860 average by an additional $20,055 (17.5%), while Green River, WY exceeds the national average by $19,072 (16.6%).
Moving seems to be a very successful approach for a NASA engineer to advance their career because the average wage in these 10 locations is higher than the national average. San Mateo, California and Newark, New Jersey’s average salaries in these top 10 cities only differ by 5%, demonstrating the limited potential for major wage improvement. About NASA
This NASA centre is unique compared to others. It is managed by the California Institute of Technology, and the staff members are Caltech employees rather than government employees (faculty). JPL’s employees are therefore subject to very stringent NASA regulations, but they are not entitled to the benefits and job security that come with being a government servant. This is something that job applicants should be aware of.
Deep space missions to Jupiter, Mars, and beyond remain JPL’s core focus despite being uncommon in the aerospace industry. For a significant period of time in the history of space, JPL was the only organisation undertaking this kind of work globally.
